Keeping your lab clean and clear is not just about cleaniness, its also about safety.
In an emergency evacuation, a cluttered pathway can delay your escape.
The following program simulates a cluttered lab. You are guided to the far end of
a laboratory when a fire breaks out.
You must navigate through maze-like aisleways to escape.
At the end of the simulation, you will see a replay of your movements, as well
as the 'ideal'
escape route (one without any obstacles.)
The goal of this project is to demostrate the time difference of a cluttered and uncluttered
laboratory.
This simulation is written in Java3D and requires the Java Plugin here. The Clutter Lab was written by Jonathan Miyamoto
under guidance of Dr. John T Bell at the University of Illinois at Chicago
as part of the Virtual Reality Undergraduate Project Laboratories.
