Directors
The Virtual Reality in Chemical Engineering Laboratory is directed
by:
- John
T. Bell, Lecturer in Chemical Engineering. John serves as
VRiChEL's repository of virtual reality and computer programming
expertise, and directs the activities of the lab. Occasionally,
John gets lucky enough to get his own hands on the keyboard.
- H.
Scott Fogler, Vennema Professor of Chemical Engineering.
Scott's insight into the future of computer-aided engineering
education led first to a series of interactive computer modules,
in conjunction with Dr.
Susan Montgomery, ( who is currently the director of
the Multimedia
Education Laboratory at the University of Michigan. )
Then in 1994, Scott arranged for John to come to the University
of Michigan, and together they founded the Virtual Reality in
Chemical Engineering Lab to apply the newly emerging field of
virtual reality to chemical engineering education.
Scott also has web pages available for his Chemical
Reaction Engineering and Problem
Solving activities.
